Third Sunday after Trinity

The bishop will be preaching at St. Andrew's this Sunday, and I am busy enough not to write anything new. More to the point, in light of recent posts on evangelism, I can do no better this year than last year when I wrote my sermon for the same Sunday. Therefore, I am providing this link to take you to last year's sermon for the third Sunday after Trinity.

White alb. Before the ordination service is over he will have a priest's stole and chasuble placed over it. That would hardly be fitting over a surplice and cassock.

Thanks father.
Now....is communion celebrated by the new ordinand and the Bishop?and a sermon preached? I know in the REC they had someone else preach.

The sermon comes almost immediately in an Ordination Mass, instead of the usual spot, if the bishop preaches. It is the bishop's service, and he is the Ordinary as well as the Celebrant.

Until Vatican II a priestly ordination was the only time concelebration was permitted, though it had become uncommon. If there were not a multitude being ordained together (which did become the norm) the bishop could permit the newly ordained to stand at the altar with him, sometimes each with his own newly presented chalice, and celebrate with the bishop. I have seen Medieval illustrations of this, and I have seen this done in an Anglican ordination. It is, however, whether that happens or not, the Mass of the following day when he celbrates alone that is counted as his first Mass.

sorry, I was trying to delete my own messed up comment and something glitched. I deleted the first comment in this thread. I managed to rescue it, and reproduce ut here. ed

I have a question: What does a deacon wear to his ordination to presbyter? White alb or Black Cassock and surplice?
